The Joint Dalit Struggle Committee Dhankuta has staged a corner meeting and protest at Madan Chowk in the district headquarters demanding a fair investigation into the incident of the killing of Shri Krishna Bishwakarma of Sindhuli and action against the culprits.

The corner meeting and protest were organized demanding a fair investigation into the incident of a death in police custody in Khurkot, Sindhuli. At the program, Nepal Dalit Mukti Sanghatan's Central Deputy General Secretary Gopal Baraili said that the death of a citizen in a sensitive place like police custody is a serious issue and strongly demanded the government to make the truth and facts of the incident public. He stressed that whoever is guilty should be brought to justice and action should be taken.

Similarly, Nepal Dalit Sangha central member Ambika Pariyar, Mukti Samaj Nepal's Dhankuta president Man Bahadur Bishwakarma and Dalit rights activist Rabindra Nepali accused the state of not being sensitive to the incidents of discrimination, violence and oppression against the Dalit community. The speakers demanded the government to guarantee the security of the Dalit community, take action against the guilty police and provide appropriate compensation to the victim's family.

Most of the speakers at the program said that the recent increase in deaths in police custody has raised questions about the rule of law. They believed that the state should be responsible for respecting human rights and protecting the right to life of citizens.

Earlier on Thursday, Dalit organizations had submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister through Chief District Officer Binod Kumar Khadka, demanding a judicial investigation into the incident, strict action against the culprits, compensation for the victims' families, and effective steps to prevent such incidents from recurring in the future. The program, organized by the Joint Dalit Struggle Committee Dhankuta, was attended by various Dalit rights activists, representatives of fraternal organizations affiliated with political parties, and locals.
