Dhankuta Municipality has started the policy, program and budget formulation process for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/84. The municipality has sought plan proposals from wards, thematic branches and various committees.

According to Sitaram Gautam, the municipality's administration, planning and monitoring officer, all 10 wards of the municipality have been instructed to submit suggestions related to plans and budgets to be included in the policy and program for the upcoming fiscal year by Baisakh 20. Along with this, thematic branches and committees have also been asked to prepare their sectoral priorities, necessary projects and budget outlines.

According to the work schedule made public by the municipality, the policy and program will be approved by mid-Baisakh, while meetings of tole gatherings, ward assemblies and thematic committees will be held throughout the month of Jestha. After that, preparations are being made to hold an executive meeting within the first week of Asad and present the budget for the upcoming fiscal year by Asad 10.

Gautam said that local needs and suggestions will be given priority in the budget formulation process this time. He said that preparations are underway to include plans focused on infrastructure development, agriculture, education, health, tourism promotion, employment creation and good governance.

In the current fiscal year 2082/83, the municipality had approved a budget of Rs 949.8 million. However, the budget was revised during the winter session and reduced to Rs 863.8 million. Gautam said that homework is being done to make the next year's plan more realistic and result-oriented based on the experience gained from the implementation of the current fiscal year's budget.
