It will take another 3 to 4 days for the electricity service to be fully operational in all areas of Dhankuta, which was disrupted due to the storm on Monday night.
According to Bijli Prasad Yadav, Chief of the Nepal Electricity Authority Dhankuta Distribution Center, although electricity was restored in the district headquarters and main market areas by Friday morning, repair work is still pending in rural areas.
The electricity that was disrupted in Teliya, Piple, and Karkale areas of Chhathar Jorpati Rural Municipality since Monday evening has not yet been restored. Tekendra Parajuli of Ward No. 4 Marse said that daily life has become difficult due to the lack of electricity. According to him, wires have been snapped in more than 10 places due to the storm and poles have fallen, which has also affected communication services.
Even in some places in the district headquarters Dhankuta market, regular electricity supply has not yet been restored. Jyotiram Pokharel, a local from Kachide, complained that the disrupted service has not been restored since Monday night.
Similarly, electricity service is also disrupted in the rural areas of Khoku and Chhintang in Chaubise Rural Municipality and Sahidbhumi Rural Municipality. According to the NEA, about 250 old wooden electricity poles need to be replaced in Chaubise Rural Municipality alone.
The NEA has stated that it will take a few more days to fully restore electricity service in the rural area. The poultry business has also been affected due to the power disruption, and broiler chicken farmers are facing problems.
