Water supply to Dhankuta Bazaar, which was disrupted after the storm on Monday night destroyed the pump and electrical infrastructure, has been partially restored since Wednesday evening.

The supply to the district headquarters was disrupted after the pump, high-tension line and panel board used to draw water from the Nibuwa and Tankhuwa rivers were damaged. Trees have also fallen on the tank, roughing filter, store and office located at Lahe Bara.

According to the Dhankuta Municipality Drinking Water and Sanitation Consumers Committee, water is currently being supplied to a limited extent through the bypass system. Arjun Charahang, secretary of the Dhankuta Municipality Drinking Water and Sanitation Consumers Committee, said that full supply will be possible only after the main pump is repaired.

The system for drawing water from Nibuwa and Tankhuwa is likely to be operational only from Thursday. About 3,500 consumers from wards 4 to 9 of Dhankuta Municipality have been affected by this through the committee.
