The Bhedetar-Namje section of the Bhedetar-Raviranke road in Dhankuta has been blocked after repeated dry landslides. The road has been completely closed since last night after rocks and mud started falling from above after normal rains.
According to Ramesh Pradhan, Deputy Inspector of Police at the Bhedetar Area Police Office, the road is facing difficulties due to continuous dry landslides since last night. 'As the rocks and mud continue to fall from above, the landslides have not been removed immediately,' he said.
The Indian construction company Apco Infra Tech, which has taken over the construction of the Bhedetar-Raviranke road, has kept dozers and other equipment ready since morning to remove the landslides. However, the work could not start as the landslides have not stopped, informed Deputy Inspector of Police Pradhan.
According to him, the road cleaning work will start only after the landslides stop. He said that even though the possibility of the road opening today seems low, the construction company's workers and equipment have been kept ready.
Vehicles traveling on the route have been stranded and passengers have also been affected due to the road blockage. The local administration has urged passengers to use alternative routes and exercise caution.
