I am a porter, give me the opportunity to carry heavy loads: Poudel

NCP candidate Dharmaraj Poudel has urged voters to give him the responsibility of solving the problems of the citizens of Dhankuta. At a press conference organized in Dhankuta on Monday morning, he presented himself as the 'people's porter' and said that he is ready to shoulder the burden of the district's development, good governance and livelihood.

"I am a porter, ready to bear the burden of the problems and expectations of the people of Dhankuta, give me that opportunity," he said. Stating that development works have not progressed effectively in the past, he opined that transparent, accountable and result-oriented leadership is needed now.

Poudel urged voters not to blindly vote for controversial or tarnished candidates in the name of the party and appealed to them to choose capable and honest candidates. He expressed his commitment to prevent misuse of public resources, adopt transparency in budget implementation and put forward plans that will directly benefit the citizens.

His main agenda includes agricultural modernization, marketing of local products, creation of self-employment and employment opportunities for the youth, promotion of tourism, upgrading of rural roads, expansion of drinking water and irrigation facilities. He also made public a plan to improve the quality of education and health sectors, strengthen community schools and increase the capacity of local health institutions.

Similarly, Poudel made it clear that he is a strong opponent of caste discrimination and untouchability. He said that equality, social harmony and inclusive development would be prioritized by ending the existing discrimination in the society. ‘Dhankuta is a common home for all communities, no kind of discrimination is acceptable here,’ he stressed.

Poudel urged not to be misled by the accusations leveled against him by the opposition. Expressing his commitment to formulate a development plan with the direct participation of the people, he promised to remain in constant contact with the people even after the election and work according to their expectations.
