A microbus coming from Kathmandu met with an accident in Nigale, Dhankuta Municipality-1.

A micro bus with the number Ga 2 Kha 1957 fell off the road into a ravine in Nigale, Dhankuta on Saturday evening. Seven passengers were injured in the accident. There were 11 people on the bus, including the driver. 

Ramchandra Tamang, 36, of Sukepokhari, Dhankuta Municipality-1, who suffered serious head injuries in the accident, has been referred to Dharan for further treatment, said Dhankuta Police Chief SP Sharat Kumar Thapa Chhetri. The victims in the accident were Dik Bahadur Magar, 39, of Phalante, Pakhribas-6, Dhankuta, Abhishek Magar, 18, of the same place, Yumesh Bishwakarma, 35, of Dhankuta-Hile, his daughter, 13, Nishma Shankar, 40, of Sanne, Pakhribas Municipality-2, and Kalpana BK, 35, of Hile, said Dhankuta Police Chief SP Thapa Chhetri. 

The six injured passengers are being treated at Dhankuta Hospital. The hospital has stated that their health conditions are being tested. 

The driver of the microbus, Bijay Karki, 39, a native of Humla district and currently residing in Ekantakuna, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-9, has been taken into custody by the police. 

Initial police investigations have revealed that the driver, who was carrying passengers from Kathmandu since 2 am on Saturday, fell asleep after getting tired. SP Thapa Chhetri said that the microbus was speeding at the time of the accident.
