Gouritap is a religious and tourist destination at a height of three thousand meters above sea level. Laureshwar Baba, who has been in Gauritap for a long time, said that Gauritap, which is 230 kilometers from Kathmandu, is the place where Mata Gauri did penance during Satya Yuga.
"There is a popular belief that a tiger attacked a cow named 'Gauri' at the place where Mother Gauri did her penance and the cow's foot (hooves) sat on a stone, hence the name Gauritap", he said.
From Gauritap, which can be reached by four-wheeled vehicles, one can view the mountains and peaks of Gaurishankar, Lotse, Makalu, Kumbhakarna, Kanchenjunga, etc., which are more than eight thousand meters high, including Everest. There are more than two dozen types of guras found in this area with a dense forest of red guras. Religiously important Gauritap has Gauri Shankar-Ganesh Temple, Gaurigai Temple and Shiva Panchayan Temple .
Nepali film actor Rajesh Hamal mentioned that Gauritap is a very beautiful and picturesque place and said that he is happy to come here. "We arrived here by traveling easily from Kathmandu to Gauritap, the view of the mountains including Mount Everest and the sunrise from here was very beautiful, I call on everyone for the necessary support to promote tourism here", he said.
After enjoying the previous tent camping at Gauritap, the team went down to Rumjatar in Okhaldhunga on Saturday afternoon. The team was welcomed in Rumjhatar by the representatives of the local municipality as well as the communities of Gurung, Rai, Newar. They were welcomed to the Buddhist monastery in Rumjatar and given necessary information about the monastery.
On Saturday evening, artists Vimalraj Chhetri, Sunita Dulal, Sandeep Chhetri, Raja Rajendra, Aastha Raut and Raju Lama and Mongolian Heart gave their performance. They asked to promote cultural unity, Raithane food and culture. They mentioned that the saying 'Ghumifiri Rumjatar' is popular in Nepali language and said that this can be used to spread the propaganda here.
BBC Masterchef Santosh Sah said that he was very happy to eat Raithane dishes here .
Rumjatar, which is dominated by the Gurung community, was once famous for sheep rearing and Radipakhi. Radipakhi made from sheep wool produced here was transported to Kathmandu from Rumzatar Airport.
