In the House of Representatives elections held last Thursday, seven of the candidates in Ramechhap failed to secure even 100 votes. There were 17 candidates in the fray in Ramechhap, which has only one constituency.
Among them, Binod Ghising of the Mongol National Party and Keshari Shrestha of the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party received 56/56 votes each. While Yama Bahadur Moktan of the National Republic Nepal received 75 votes, Padam Bahadur Tamang of the Aam Janata Party received only 36 votes.
Similarly, independent candidate Arun Karki received 98 votes, Babukaji Khadka received 22 votes, and Santosh Ghimire received 61 votes. All these candidates could not cross the 100-vote threshold.
According to the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Ramechhap, the candidates of the three parties could not even cross the 200-vote threshold. Arjun Bahadur Thapa Magar of the Rastriya Janamorcha received 161 votes, Birendra Shrestha of the Progressive Democratic Party received 115 votes, and Yamun Bahadur Basnet of the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) received 156 votes.
Similarly, Gore Tamang of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party received 543 votes, while Dhal Bahadur Khapangi Magar of the Shram Sanskriti Party received 1,336 votes.
Dr. Krishnahari Budhathoki of the National Independent Party (NISP) won in Ramechhap. According to the final results of the vote counting held on Sunday evening, Budhathoki secured 24,808 votes, defeating his nearest rival Madhav Prasad Dhungel of the UML by a margin of 7,199 votes. Dhungel has secured 17,609 votes.
Ramchandra Khadka of the Nepali Congress has secured 16,307 votes. Similarly, Shyam Kumar Shrestha of the Nepal Communist Party secured 13,354 votes, while Deep Bahadur Yonjan of the Ujjaya Nepal Party got 7,210 votes.
