Forty-one polling stations in Ramechhap district have been placed on the 'highly sensitive' list for the upcoming House of Representatives elections to be held on Falgun 21.
Ramechhap, which has two municipalities and six rural municipalities, has a total of 64 wards and 96 polling stations. According to Shyam Krishna Thapa, Chief District Officer of the District Administration Office, Ramechhap, out of the 96 polling stations, 41 will be classified as highly sensitive, 35 as sensitive and 20 as general and security arrangements will be made accordingly. Chief District Officer Thapa informed that 1,429 election police personnel will be mobilized in the district for the peace and security of the election. According to him, a joint security operation will be carried out by the Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Nepal Army. 'A total of 1,429 election police personnel, including 1,333 personnel under the Nepal Police and 96 personnel under the Armed Police, will be mobilized,' he said. Chief District Officer Thapa also said that since about 150 election police personnel are insufficient so far, they have been requested from neighboring districts including Sindhuli. According to Narayan Lamichhane, Election Officer of the District Election Office, Ramechhap, there are 187,952 voters in the district for this election. Of which, 96,892 are male voters and 91,060 are female voters.
With the increase in the number of voters, 96 polling stations and 228 polling stations have been determined across the district this time. The District Election Office, Ramechhap, has stated that 2 polling stations have been added compared to the previous election.
