Bhimfedi rural municipality has made 99 workers working in the informal sector join the social security fund this year. Carpenters, carpenters, agricultural workers and workers who work in vehicles have been joined to the fund by the municipality.

Last year, the municipality made 98 informal sector workers join the fund.

Bahadur Singh Lama, the Chief Minister of Bagmati province, while inaugurating the program to join the social security fund to the workers working in the informal sector in the current year, said that this is an exemplary work. He said that this will bring ease in their life and family. This task should be followed not only by Bhimfedi rural municipality but also by all 199 municipalities of the province, the Chief Minister said. Lama said.

Member of the House of Representatives Mahesh Bertaula claimed that the government has introduced various schemes to make the lives of workers in the organized and unorganized sectors and their families stronger. Chief District Officer Skim Shrestha said that such actions taken to empower the residents of his municipality will send a positive message to all areas.

Bhimfedi rural municipality has been including contribution-based social security scheme since last year. Contributory Labor Fund for the current financial year  Village Chairman Hidam Lama informed that 2.5 million budget has been allocated for the title. 

In order for informal sector workers to join the social security fund, the government of Nepal has arranged that 11 percent of the minimum basic wage set for the industrial sector, i.e., 1190 rupees, and 9.37 percent, i.e., 1014 rupees, will be added to the rural municipality's fund, and a total of 20.37 percent, i.e., 2204 rupees, will be deposited into the fund of the rural municipality.
