The world's first electronic communications satellite, Telstar 1, was launched into space on this day (July 10) in 1962. The Telstar 1 satellite was launched into space by a rocket named Thor Delta. After its launch, electronic communication is considered to have entered a new era.

This satellite proved to be helpful for broadcasting live television programs around the world at the same time. Also, television picture, telephone, telegraph picture exchange was also possible because of this satellite. The Telestar 2 satellite was launched on May 7, 1963.

American scientist John Robinson made this satellite. He initially stated that telephone signals would be received by this satellite and reflected back to Earth. Later it became possible to transmit television programs, pictures from one part of the world to another part of the world through antennas with the help of satellites. Now it is disabled on satellite.
