Veteran pro Ramey Magar leads the way with a 3-under 65 on Day 1 of the Surya Nepal Challenge Golf. Ramey edged defending champion Sadhav Acharya, a young amateur golfer, by one stroke. Sadbhav with 2-under 66 was in the second position while Bhuvan Nagarkoti and Dhan Bahadur Thapa were in joint third position with 1-under 67.

Tank Bahadur Karki, who played an even-par 68, finished fifth and Ravi Khadka finished sixth with a 1-over 69.

Ramesh Adhikari, Surya Prasad Sharma and Dinesh Prajapati, who finished the day's play on Monday with a score of 2 over 70, took joint seventh place. Pashupati Sharma, Jairam Shrestha, Deepak Magar, Toranvikram Shahi, amateur golfers Rahul Bick and Tasi Chiring finished joint 10th with 3 over 71. In a

performance, Ramey finished the front nine at 3-under 31. He birdied the first, second and fourth holes. After saving one shot each on the 10th, 12th and 13th holes on the back nine, he reached 6 under. Sadbhav had a superb 3-under 31 on the front nine. Four birdies against a bogey on the sixth hole. Hit three birdies and four bogeys on the back nine.

The fourth tournament of the season, Surya Nepal Western Open winner Bhuvan finished the front nine at 2 under 32 with the help of birdies on the fourth and fifth holes.

The fifth tournament of this season's Surya Nepal Golf Tour will last for four days. 31 professional and 11 amateur players are participating in the 72-hole tournament. The total amount of Rs 5 lakh 72 thousand 250 will be won by the winner of the competition.
