60 local families have been moved to a safe place after the water of Seti river started entering the settlements of Sigau Rural Municipality-5 Dhungad. The Baitadi administration said that 60 families of Sigas have been moved to a safer place after the water level of Seti rose and started entering the settlement due to continuous rain.
Chief District Officer Bhimkant Sharma said that those families from Sigas-5 Dhungad have been shifted to local Sharda Mavi. Teacher Indra Bahadur Chand said that they were shifted to Sharda High School with the help of local people's representatives. He left his house with the local cattle and took shelter in the school due to the fear of being swept away by the flood. Locals say that they had to leave their houses after the river began to flow over the embankment.
Due to continuous rains, the local residents are panicking after the water flow has increased in Seti. After the increase in water flow in Seti, along with Dhungad, the settlements of Hardakhani, Lambgad, Lode of Sigas are at high risk of flooding.
There are risks in the Seti bank settlements located in Sigas 5, 6 and 7, so caution has been requested. Teacher Chand said that there is a danger of water flowing into the Seti river in the settlements including Mauribagad, Barpipal, Masanijhad, Nakra, Bhauneli Pattal, Agurali and Bori of Ward No. 8.
