Provincial Assembly member Daman Bahadur Bhandari, who was elected from the by-election held in Bajhang Constituency No. 1 (1), took the oath of office and secrecy on Thursday.

Speaker Bhim Bahadur Bhandari made him take the oath of office and confidentiality. Bhandari elected from UML defeated Congress candidate Abhishek Bahadur Singh .

After the then Home Affairs and Law Minister Prithvi Bahadur Singh passed away in a road accident, by-elections were held in Bajhang on 15th Baisakh.

With the election of UML's Bhandari, the 53-member Provincial Assembly has equal 11/11 members from UML and Maoist Center. With the defeat in Bajhang, Congress, the largest party with 19 members, has 18 MPs. There are seven MPs from Civil Immunity, four from Integrated Socialists, one from RPP and one independent MP.
