Landslides at 7 places on Karnali highway and corridor

Hundreds of vehicles and passengers going to and from Surkhet from Mugu, Humla, Bajura, Jumla and Kalikot are stranded on the road due to landslides.

The rain that fell from 9 pm to morning on Sunday has caused landslides in places like Gagane Khola, Hulme, Takulla, Birtamod, Bihani, Cheka and other places on the Karnali highway, while landslides have occurred in places like Regil, Bhattadi, Bhurabagar and others on the Karnali corridor.

According to DSP Arjun KC, although the landslides in some places have been removed by using machines, work is being done to remove the landslides in Gagnekhola, Birtamod, Reginal and other places. He said that the road division office and the police team were deployed on the side to restore the corridor and the highway by noon.

Narendra Pandey of Khandachakra-3, who was going to Surkhet, complained that he left home in the morning to go to Surkhet but was stuck in Hulma till 12 noon. 'Whenever a landslide causes pain,' he said, 'there is no way to reach Surkhet in the evening.' He came to Calcutta from Surkhet 3 days ago for household work.

Pragya Ganesh Nepali said that as soon as it rains in Gangane River, which is on the border of Calikot and Dailekh, the road is blocked by a landslide with mud from above. He informed that the machine dozer, while clearing the landslide from Hulme, reached the Gagane river and was able to remove the landslide, so it is likely to be opened by evening.
