Farmers of Nawalparasi East have protested because they have not received payment for milk. On Thursday, they blocked the east-west highway in Kawasoti. Farmers poured milk on the road and expressed their anger against the government.

Demonstration of farmers demanding payment for milk

The farmers have demanded that the 'milk holiday' should be stopped and the government should take charge of the price and sale of milk. Due to the demonstration, the means of transport on the highway have been stopped. About 70,000 liters of milk are being sold daily in East Nawalparasi.

The government has also banned the import of milk and milk products after the increase in the stock of milk and milk products. The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development has sent a letter to the Department of Food, Technology and Quality Control asking them not to issue import permits until further decision.
