Matihani municipality of Mahottari has been declared a literate municipality on Thursday. The municipality declared the municipality as a literate city after the municipality conducted the literacy classes and the literacy percentage of the municipality increased to 95.16%.

In the announcement meeting held on Thursday, Chief Guest Sumanlal Karna, Chairman of District Coordination Committee Mahottari handed over the certificate to Mayor Hari Mandal and announced that Matihani is a literate city. Conducting literacy classes with practical skills for women and men in the age group of 15 to 60 years of the municipality, they can write their name and address, can read and write their family name and address, can reduce the emphasis of their normal financial transactions, can use a mobile phone, know how to watch the clock Chandeshwar Sah, Head of Matihani Education Branch and member secretary of the Literate City Declaration Committee, said that with the provision of knowledge, the city has become a literate city.

Sah informed that around 3,600 citizens who fulfill 12 indicators of literacy have been made literate by the municipality.

Speaking at the announcement meeting, Matihani Municipality Chief Hari Prasad Mandal urged all the citizens who became literate by recognizing letters to continue learning. The Chief District Officer of Mahottari, Shivram Gelal, along with the guests and participants in the meeting, also signed a letter of commitment to make the municipality a fully literate municipality by orienting it towards continuous education.

To make Matihani a literate city, the city had been conducting a literacy campaign since October 2080. In which the municipality has mobilized 72 literacy facilitators and launched a campaign.

The municipality has honored the organizations, individuals, employees and facilitators who help make the municipality a literate city in the literate announcement meeting.
