The police recovered goods worth 587 million rupees, which were smuggled from various places in the district during the month of March.

Customs evasion goods worth 58.7 million seized

According to DSP Kumar Vikram Thapa, information officer and spokesperson of the office, to increase revenue and reduce customs evasion, the police of the district police office and its subordinates were mobilized and during the period from March 1 to 30, smuggled goods worth 587,36,799 rupees were seized.

The police recovered clothes, vehicle parts, electronic materials, groceries and food items and have been filed in Revenue Investigation Office, Pathalaiya Bara and Birganj Customs Office.

Among the recovered items are clothes worth 1 crore 23 lakh 46 thousand 491 rupees, vehicles and spare parts worth 1 crore 10 lakh 87 thousand 710 rupees, electrical materials worth 2 crore 10 lakh 78 thousand 681 rupees and 1 Grocery and food items worth 42 lakh 23 thousand 917 rupees have been recovered.

Smuggler groups are taking advantage of open borders to smuggle goods from India on a daily basis. Even though the police are regularly seizing such customs evasion items, smuggling is not going away.
