Bamdev Gautam, a member of the National Assembly, has said that the current parliamentary system of governance and the election system have made the country poor, and that it would be appropriate to switch to a directly elected presidential system.
Speaking at the meeting of the National Assembly on Wednesday, Gautam, a member of the National Assembly, said that the current parliamentary system of government and the electoral system have made the country poor. He says that he should amend the constitution and go to the directly elected presidential system.
He said, 'It is the parliamentary system of government and the electoral system that we have adopted that has always inspired the nation of Nepal to be poor. Now let us dare to amend the constitution of Nepal and enter the directly elected presidential system. In the same way, let's abandon the current minority election system that always puts all political parties in a minority state and adopt a fully proportional election system in which a party is elected, not an individual.'
MP Gautam also said that all arable land in Nepal should be nationalized.
