On the 'Meeting Hall' a discussion on podcasting, on the 'Tactic Hall' an interaction on different social media platforms, on the 'Main Stage' singer Sushant Ghimire is singing, 'Ab Zindagi Sarrar Motor Gadima' - this is 'Creators Mela'.
The first program of the first day of the 'Creators Mela' organized by the American Embassy in Nepal started like this in three halls simultaneously. This fair has started with a plan to nurture, brand and promote creators by bringing together talents who are active in the creative field through various genres and providing a platform for them.
On the first day of the 2-day fair, 18 programs were organized in the presence of creators active on social media. While the program was being held simultaneously in three halls, the attendees went to the hall they liked and had already noted their names.
In order to be successful in social media, competition, cooperation and continuity in this field, the second session program was attended by a full audience. As the number of viewers increased, some had to settle for other programs. In the discussion on the potential of
podcasting, podcaster Sushant Pradhan and American journalist/podcaster Alice Hoole shared their podcast tastes, experiences and struggles from global audiences to Nepali audiences. Sabina Karki, who facilitated the
program, also shared her experience of starting a podcast in Nepal. "At that time, when podcasts were started, many people would ask, 'Postcast, podcast, YouTube,'" Sabina said while chatting with two podcasters present in the discussion.
Alice shared her experience about the eras of podcasting in America. 'Around 2004/5 US radio started podcasting . The word podcast comes from the iPad. Now the iPad is complete, it is no longer visible. However, with the program called Serial, which started around 2012, podcasting has been very popular in America. With that serial, the second era of podcasting began,' Alice said about the changing times of podcasting, 'From 2019 to 2022, podcasting started making money . That's why I call this time the time to make money with podcasting . The big show on the podcast has started right now.'
Alice said to encourage the present audience that in this time of access to technology, those who are interested can find their future in podcasting. Now everyone can start a podcast with their own ideas. By preparing a good setup, recording your videos or interviews on a daily to weekly basis, your viewership will also increase . Now video podcasting is very visible, now podcasting has become global,' Alice said .
Sushant said that his nature of gossiping with people and studying/learning new things drew him to podcasting. Sushant, who has started a series of more than 300 podcasts, said that Nepal is at the initial stage of podcasting. He also said that some of the guest list he has prepared for the
podcast has not yet been included. He also says that when he started the podcast independently, when the guest did not believe him, he left the character and ran the program towards the end. How many guests refuse to come to us? But, it should be continued as a process,' said Sushant. During the discussion towards the
tactical hall, makeup artist Lemmy encouraged everyone present to post their creations on many social media platforms. "If you don't start now, when will you do it?" she said looking at the audience.
In a discussion on how to use different social media platforms through different platforms or how to increase your presence on them, Lemy shared her experience that the video she made targeting her social media followers helped to increase the number of students who come to learn makeup .
'When I moved to Mumbai around 2017, many of my followers were Nepalese. At that time I had to show my work, at that time my Nepali followers helped me . If you make a content video in Nepali, you will get more views,' Lemy said.
Lemmy encouraged her to create content on whatever topic she wanted. 'Now it is not the number of followers but the engagement that matters. So it happens even if you don't want to increase subscribers. If your video is good, there is engagement in it, it also makes sense,' said Parakram. Lemmy said that one should abandon the side of making fun of others and abusing others in case of
going viral. Along with Sushant, many programs were organized including Pragati Pun's dance, Sanjay Silwal Gupta's podcast tour on the main stage. How to use AI to succeed in the meeting hall and social media? There were more discussion and question and answer program including visual story reading. In the same way, a question and answer program was also organized in Tactic Hall in addition to a serious debate on the regulation of social media.
