Harry Bhandari, an elected representative of the state of Maryland and a delegate from Nepal, has received the Legislative National Award in America.
The National Association of the Deaf (NAD) has awarded Harry Bhandari, a delegate of the Maryland General Assembly, with the National Legislative Award.
The award was given by the legislators of all states of America based on the laws they created and their effectiveness. Bhandari is the first legislator of Nepali origin in the United States and has been elected twice in Maryland.
The 57th National Convention of the Deaf held in the state of Chicago, USA, and the National Association of the Deaf, which was established in New England in the year 1850, has honored Bhandari with this award.
The organization that has been advocating to improve the quality of life for millions of Americans with hearing, visual impairments and total disabilities and their families is the oldest organization in the history of America.
Among the members of the said organization are the US members of the World Federation of the Deaf under which there are members of the Association of the Deaf in one hundred and twenty countries.
The award was presented to Bhandari in front of people from the region gathered from America and around the world. The conference continues in Chicago from July 1st to 6th.
The organization, which has been working in the field of civil rights for more than 170 years, will give the award on the basis and effectiveness of the legislation passed by the legislators from all over the United States at the conference held every two years.
