The work has started in accordance with the goal of producing irrigation and electricity throughout the year in five districts of Khasali Madhesh in Sunkoshi's Pani Marin river by damming the river. The main objective of the project is to provide irrigation facilities in an area of ​​122,000 hectares in Bara, Rautahat, Sarlahi, Mahottari and Dhanusha using the infrastructure of Wagmati irrigation project along with power generation. The total cost of the project is 49.42 billion rupees.
